Year 1 and Year 2 Button Books workshop

Last week, Years 1 and 2 were treated to an exciting workshop by Helen Hamill, the illustrator of ‘Button Books’.

The children were introduced to the story of Bethany the Explorer Button and her travels around the world, visiting "desolate desserts" and the "soaring surf". The children were then invited to locate countries on a world map and identify the habitats that these countries were home to.

In keeping with the explorer button, Years 1 and 2 had the opportunity to look at a compass and discuss how a compass would help an explorer to find their way around the world. The children then created and decorated their own compasses and wrote a postcard imagining they were a button and had gone on an adventure around the world.
