On Tuesday Year 1 excitedly prepared themselves for an important royal outing; they were off to Hampton Court!
The children had an eventful day of workshops as well as having the chance to explore the beautiful palace. Prior to the trip, the children had been thinking in class about who lived at the palace, what it may have been like hundreds of years ago and why it may have been different. With all of this in mind, the children were eager to learn all about Henry VIII and his wives and wanted to see all the rooms he lived in. They thoroughly enjoyed searching the kitchens for different foods and comparing their own bedrooms and bathrooms to the ones they saw.
During the workshop, the children learnt about different artefacts from the Tudor times and had the chance to hold and sort them. Everyone enjoyed learning to bow and curtsy and we all finished off the workshop dancing like kings and queens. As the sun came out in the afternoon, the children enjoyed roaming around the beautiful gardens and deciding what they may have played had they lived in Hampton Court with Henry VIII. A great day for year 1 with lots of information collected for their history topic.
