On Wednesday 20th October 2021 year 1 visited Hampton Court Palace as part of their 'Turrets and Tiaras' topic. During history lessons children have been learning about Kings and Queens so for this trip ther focus was the powerful and fierce Henry VIII. They started the day by visiting the kitchens and saw the giant fireplaces that were used to cook food for 450 people! They then had a workshop where they explored a range of Tudor artefacts, learnt how to bow and curtsey to greet the king and even learnt the horse's brawl, which is a famous Tudor dance! Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed exploring the palace and learning more about the Kings and Queens that have resided there. As a special treat the day ended with everyone playing in the magic gardens which was a big hit!
