Year 4 Residential to Thames Young Mariners

Wow! What a brilliant trip and what amazing weather!

Year 4 had such fun on their residential trip to Thames Young Mariners. We learnt so many important skills, such as team work, risk taking, resilience, independence, reflection (to name but a few of our WGS values). We had paddle boarding, raft building, kayaking and canoeing (to name just a few of our activities). But enough from me, here are the words of Gyan, who summarised one of the days:

"When I got to school on Thursday, I was feeling so excited! I just wanted to get to the campfire! We got to the centre and had croissants which tasted so, so nice! Then we had canoeing. I was feeling so, so nervous and kept spinning around in circles! I was a bit slow and ended up being towed to the other end of the lake behind a speedboat with lots of other year 4s. We played a fun ball game on the canoes and got soaking wet. We then had sandwiches, crisps and fruit for lunch. Next was raft building. We built ours the quickest. Again, we got really wet and some of us jumped off the pontoon into the water. We had bangers and mash for dinner. After dinner, we had the campfire and we roasted marshmallows, sang crazy songs about bananas and ate smores! It was such good fun and I went home knowing that I had another day of fun to look forward to tomorrow".

The children were such good fun and threw everything into every activity and were a credit to WGS.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Evans for arranging the activities, as well as Mrs Limalia, Mr Morgan and Mrs Daniel for all their help and support with the trip.
It truly was a memorable trip!
