Year 4 had a fantastic time on their recent trip to Thames Young Mariners. After a delayed start, we arrived early on Thursday morning and were treated to a full cooked breakfast which really set us up for the day.
Our first activity was Stand Up Paddleboarding. The children were quick to grasp the concepts and skills, but realised that falling in was far more fun than standing on the board! We then headed to the dock and really enjoyed jumping in (there's a theme here!). We dried off and had a big lunch, before heading off to the woods and learning how to make fires. This was followed, in the evening, by a big campfire, smores and an exciting torchlight ramble.
The children woke bright and early on day two and were set the task of raft building, which they were absolute experts at. This was followed by Kayaking. Again, the children proved that they were quick to pick up skills and they all impressed the instructors with their excellent listening skills and boundless enthusiasm.
We were once again blessed with the weather and the children went home tired but happy.
