Recently, the pupils in Year 5 were lucky to enjoy amazing weather for their five day trip to Osmington Bay in Dorset. They set off on Monday morning, stopped off at Corfe Castle for a picnic lunch (and just about managed to dodge the only showers of the week), and arrived at their PGL centre later that afternoon.
As they arrived, the sun came out and it didn’t stop shining on them all week. With Mr. Dowson and Mrs. Hawkins, they spent five action-packed days challenging themselves on zip-wires, trapezes, a giant swing, quad bikes and rafts which they built to their own designs.
There was also some time for slightly less strenuous activities, including orienteering, a sensory trail, fencing and rifle shooting. The last night saw all the pupils dressed in their best for the disco where they danced and sang with what seemed like a never-ending supply of energy.
Everyone arrived back at school tired, sun-tanned and very happy. When asked what their highlights of the week were, here is what they had to say:
Issy – The giant swing and raft-building
Caitlin – Quad biking, because I loved the thrill of going round the track as if I was actually going round a proper race track
Ella – The trapeze, because I was really scared but once I’d done it I wanted to do it again
Milo and Jude – The zip wire
Scarlett – Jumping off the trapeze pole
Brice and Zoe – the giant swing, because we loved the sudden take off when we pulled the string
Jessica and Sienna – Singing songs with Adaya, our Group Leader, and having her company
Ella Mae – Raft-building, because we kept falling in
