In their PSHE lessons, Year 6 have recently been thinking about Digital Advertising.
It is increasingly important that our children grow up to be digitally resilient and able to make good decisions about the wealth of advertising which they will encounter via social media, in the form of search adverts, vlogs, in-game adverts and paid-for promotions. To help them learn to recognise these adverts, Year 6 have formed small companies to design digital adverts for their chosen products.
This week, they were excited to begin working on an initial draft of their advert, only to be informed that there are actually laws governing the content that could be included. So, it’s back to the drawing board, and a redraft of their advert so that they meet the advertising standards criteria when they make their final presentations.
