On Friday 8th October the year 6 girls netball team went to Staines Prep for their first tournament of the season. Wow what an afternoon of sport. You would not believe that these girls had not played a competitive match in two years, and for some it was the first time they had ever represented Weston Green at netball. The girls started strongly with a dominant win over Twinken Prep School 8-1. They then played Eton End, which was a much closer match, but WGS came out 4-3 winners. Next was a much easier victory over Danesfiled 10-0. Upton House provided a very good game and the score line of 5-1 to WGS doesn’t reflect how close the game was on court. Some sharp shooting by our GA made sure the victory was in the bag. Finally we played the hosts Staines Prep in a lovely friendly game. Weston green were victorious by 7 goals to 2. Over all a really enjoyable day, and the year 6 girls were worthy winners of their gold medals. They represented Weston Green with great sportsmanship, comradery and glowing smiles………
