Posted on: 19 Sep 2019 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 2, Year 6
To kick start the Autumn Term, Year 6 pupils are studying 'The Eye of the Wolf' by Daniel Pennac. The story centres around an Alaskan wolf, who has only one eye, and an African boy. They meet in a zoo and stare at each other, but then they begin to read each other’s eyes about the hardships they have encountered.
After reading the first couple of chapters, the pupils explored the impact of the author’s choice of language and applied their visualising technique to create mental images of the story. Immersing themselves into the characters’ thoughts and emotions, they designed a storyboard which then led on to them pulling their ideas together to engage in drama.
Year 6 created two short videos sharing the wolf's thoughts and feelings. It was an active and memorable English lesson, with the pupil’s acting skills improving and expanding - watch this space for more!
