Victorian Year 5

Today, Year 5 got the opportunity to travel to Holly Lodge, in Richmond Park to embrace a Victorian experience. During the day they would learn how children behaved in school, and also how a pharmacy would create the medicine for the sick. Needless to say, the strict Mrs Sawyer made certain that there were no trouble makers in the group during the teaching of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, with children experiencing the tough rules that children had to face on a daily basis. This included, writing with the right hand only, no smiling, and even no fidgeting. Luckily none of the group had to wear the ‘dunce’ hat!

After a swift lunch, it was back to work as pharmacy apprentices, discovering how different medicines were created and the long process which each different treatment required. Needless to say, it was a day of fun, concentration and outstanding work by the children.
