This week Year 1 were guests at our Queen's main residence - Windsor Castle.
Sadly we missed the Queen by one day, as she was working at her office Buckingham Palace. However, the children learnt about the different flags which you can see above any castle of palace and show you know if the Queen is in or not.
The main purpose of the trip was for the children to see all the features which castles have and their purpose. The children took part in a fully engaging and entertaining workshop about the history of castles, how they were defended and how they have changed over the years from fortresses to family homes.
We all learnt so much, had a great time visiting the oldest working castle in the world, and have returned with lots of great ideas to help us with our new history topic.
