Another exciting delivery in Year 1!

Another exciting delivery in Year 1!

Year 1 had yet another exciting delivery this week with the arrival of a letter from a rabbit! They were told to go and search the playground for a special present and were delighted to find a beautiful book, the story of The Velveteen Rabbit. The children loved listening to the story and learning all about the adventures of the little rabbit and how he overcame some difficult situations throughout the story. It got all of us in year 1 thinking about our own favourite toys and linked well to our new topic this term - toys from long ago. The children have been thinking about the settings in the story and the magical world the toys live in. They have been imagining what adventures their own toys may have when they leave for school and creating artwork based on the story. The focus on the book has also linked well to the creative writing workshop the children took part in earlier in the week. It has been wonderful to see them interacting with different stories and media and, from this, composing their own pieces of work.
