Following on from some excellent and well-researched work to celebrate VE Day, today's activities focused on the impact of World War II. Part of the day was spent at Pegasus Bridge, where the children learnt about the events leading up to and during the Allied forces' invasion of Normandy. The children were intrigued by the operation and learnt a lot about the people involved through the viewing of a film and a tour of the museum. The loss of lives was brought home by a visit to the Commonwealth War Graves cemetery at Ranville, where more than 2000 soldiers lie in peace.
The children showed respect and maturity during both visits and are looking forward to returning home tomorrow to tell their families all about their week in Normandy.
