Athletics meeting for years 3 and 4

During Tuesday morning games, all the children in Year 3 & 4 took part in an action packed hour of athletics. Hampton Court House made the trip across the famous old bridge to KGS playing fields, where both schools were split into three evenly matched teams. Part one of the event meant each team rotate round 6 events designed to test jumping, throwing and running ability: Standing Long Jump; Tennis Ball Throw; Standing Triple Jump; Frog Hops; Javelin; and 25m shuttle run. Each child had two attempts at each activity with every time and distance being recorded. After the 6 acitvities had been completed the top 3 scores from each event were identified and the 1st placed athlete recieved 50 points for their team, 2nd = 40 points and 3rd = 30 points. The final races were a team relay where each and every child had to sprint and transfer the baton safely, with vital points being allocated for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

At the end of the event, the eventual winners were WGS B team with 240 points. A great time was had by all the 70 children taking part with each and every child giving maximum effort and competing 6 events plus a relay - a nice break from Exam Week!!
