History lessons in Year 2 have been focusing on the topic of The Great Fire of London. The children recently dressed up as iconic people from the past in 1666 and spent the day learning about the people and main events of the fire. The children started by making bread with the school chef and recreated the bakery! It was very exciting! They then moved onto writing their own ‘Great Fire of London rhyming Poems’ and enjoyed thinking of exciting and adventurous vocabulary to make their poems as interesting as possible. The children also enjoyed making houses out of cardboard and straw and they created their own monuments to commemorate The Great Fire. Recently the children also had the chance to receive a workshop by The Freshwater Company and enjoyed acting out the story of the fire which gave them all the chance to show off their knowledge and acting skills! It has been an interesting and busy few weeks and we now look forward to preparing for 2N’s History assembly.
