Year 2 have had a day to remember! We set out on our local area walk in beautiful Autumnal sunshine with our clipboards at the ready to spot key features of our surroundings along the way. Our walk took us to the Police Horse training centre at Imber Court where we were met with wonderful hospitality. After a group photo with a special guest appearance by a stunning horse we had a look around the 'mounted division' museum and heard many interesting facts about the horses. We moved on to the training arena and watched the trainee horses being put their paces with incredibly skilled riders. As the horses must get used to loud noises and flying debris, the children were encouraged to shout at them and throw tennis balls ... not something us teachers were keen to encourage but apparently we were helping, and besides, not a single horse flinched! It was then on to the farrier who showed us how horse shoes were heated and banged into shape for each horse. The children were beaming with excitement for the whole morning!
Look at everything we got up to here ....
