Posted on: 12 Mar 2015 by Weston Green School | Category: Early Years, Reception
Last week the Chatterbox was introduced to Reception children. Firstly, each child decorated a shoebox at home and filled it with surprise items. They then brought them into class to discuss their items with their friends.
Chatterboxes encourage children to talk and therefore develop their speech, language and communication skills.
They give children opportunities to talk about things they can relate to or are familiar with. This enables children to make connections in their thinking and language skills by focussing on things that they already understand.
Children had great fun sharing information about their items to the whole class as well as in small groups.
