Reception pupils have been thinking about the Golden Rules at Weston Green and trying to treat other people the way that they expect to be treated. A key area of development for children in the Early Years is making relationships and managing feelings and behaviour. We are working towards achieving the Early Learning Goal in the PSED area-personal, social, emotional development. In order to do this, children need to able to show sensitivity towards others’ feelings and begin to solve conflict without aggression.
As a group, the reception classes devised their own set of rules for the playground and have agreed to try their hardest to abide by them. Children explored the theme through role-play and discussion and wrote rules, drawing pictures to accompany them.
