KS1 and KS2 pupils were challenged this week to make links between facts in order to ‘make the forgettable unforgettable’. The inspiration for this came from Andy Salmon, aka Sir Linkalot, who led an assembly followed by workshop sessions for all pupils from Year 1 – Year 6.
With his relaxed and entertaining style of delivery Andy encouraged the children to find words within words, to count syllables, to spot patterns – all kinds of links to help them to remember different facts, to spell tricky words or prompt them in maths. He also ran sessions for parents and staff.
The sessions certainly gave everyone plenty of food for thought and the children have been challenged to continue finding links of their own to help them and their friends. They can even submit their ideas to the Think-a-link website and the best will be included for others to learn from.
