In History, Year 2 have been fascinated with The Great Fire of London. We have explored the main events of the fire and discussed in detail reasons why the fire spread quickly. We have learnt how much London has changed since the disastrous fire broke out. Today, it is hard to imagine a world without a fire brigade!
As our interest has grown, we have decided to make cross curricular links with art and we have produced our own history scenes of London burning back in 1666! The children enjoyed using a variety of materials to create their own life-like fire pictures and they were very excited to see their artwork on display in the classroom.
