Last Friday Years 3 and 4 were able to show their hockey skills against two all boy teams from Shrewsbury House. Whilst the training the children had been doing showed in their improvement, the matches were always going to be tough. Although none of the Weston Green teams were able to force a positive result the children should be encouraged by several factors: our positional accuracy was better than the opposition which will be important as the children grow through the school and the girls in particular did not seem too fazed by playing boys, indeed some relished the challenge.
Of course, while the results were not positive, that is not the reason we have fixtures. These matches are the perfect chance for the children to show their mettle, strengths, and all the different attributes required to be a successful team player, as well as giving the children a chance to impress in front of you, the parents. They should be proud of their efforts last Friday and as they always say, you learn more from losing than winning, which meant the children hopefully learnt a great deal.
