Year 5 have had a time-travelling week. Yesterday they spent the day in a Victorian classroom and today they were being Roman soldiers, learning about imperative (or bossy) verbs. To help them grasp the grammar, Mrs Hawkins gave them a series of commands - in Latin - and they acted out the role of soldiers doing drill. Commands included: audite! (listen!), procedite! (advance!), pila portate! (carry your javelins) and testudinem facite! (make a tortoise!).
