Year 1 have started their new science topic this term with great interest and enthusiasm. They have been learning all about plants and how they grow, focusing on what they need, the properties of a plant and why plants are important. Our trip to Painshill Park gave the children the chance to learn about how seeds travel and grow while in a fun and engaging environment. In school, the children used what they could find out in the playground to make their own plant pictures. They thought carefully about all the different parts of a plant and what they could use to represent each part. The children have also planted their own sunflowers which they are going to look after for the rest of the term. They have been eager to water them and check their progress each day and we’re hoping they have some bigger seedlings to plant in the garden at home very soon!
If you would like to see pictures of the year 1 trip to Painshill Park, please come in and see the KS1 Workshop display board in the corridor.
