Reception children went on their first trip on the mini-buses to Garsons Farm. When we arrived at Garsons Farm we were met by Kelvin, the very friendly tractor driver. The children climbed aboard the trailer and we set off for a tour around the various fields on the farm, identifying different crops growing in them. When we arrived at the pumpkin field there was much excitement as the children ran around the field in search of their perfect pumpkins! They each picked one before it was time to return to school again. A few days later we read the book, Pumpkin soup by Helen Cooper, and the children made their own soup by chopping up pumpkin together with a variety of other vegetables and adding freshly picked herbs from our herb garden.
