Reception remember
Reception took part in the Remembrance Day assembly to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts". Matthew’s daddy came into RM class to share some stories, and show us some memorabilia which belonged to Matthew’s great granddad, Harry. Harry was born in 1920. He joined the RAF and flew spitfires in WW2. In 1945 he had engine failure over Germany and became a prisoner of war. He was later released and continued to serve in the RAF for 45 years.
Matthew and his daddy showed us the medals awarded to Harry and also a model spitfire which he piloted in the war. They also showed us Harry’s log books which chart every flight he ever made from 1940-1985. Harry was a truly remarkable man. We are very grateful to Matthew’s daddy for sharing Harry’s memorabilia and stories with us.
