Year 1 have started their new topic this week which is learning all about familiar environments. They started by making a map of the school and comparing Weston Green to other schools in this country and abroad. They talked about what every school needs to have to succeed and identified these key areas on their own maps. After this they learnt the school address and talked about why it is important for different places to have addresses and what they are used for. The Year 1 children decided to make sure that the address of the school “worked” and so they composed a letter, addressed an envelope, completed their own risk assessment and walked the letter to the local postbox. Much to the delight of the Year 1 classes, sure enough the letters arrived back at school and were delivered to the correct people; Mr Dowson and Mr Harrison. A very exciting activity for all involved!
