Year 5 enjoyed a hands-on maths lesson today, estimating the weight of various food items borrowed from the kitchen (such as rice, pasta and potatoes), and the volume of some coloured liquids in a variety of different shaped containers.
Reading scales is one of those tricky things that really requires the children to do it for themselves. A number of the children also go to cookery club and have been getting some more experience there.
