Christmas has arrived in Year 6 and in the unusual guise of science! During their topic ‘Changing Circuits’, the class has been learning how the variables in a circuit can be changed to affect the brightness of a bulb, the volume of a buzzer and the speed of a motor. Throughout the unit they have predicted, investigated and formed conclusions to give them the skills to undertake their ultimate challenge: to design an illuminated Christmas decoration.
Not just utilising their science knowledge, they have had to put their ‘DT hats on’ and plan their design, including a detailed breakdown of what equipment they would need. To make it even harder, they also had to plan for constructing their own battery holder and switch.
The photos show Year 6 planning their designs and they look forward to showing you pictures of their final decorations in the next newsletter.
