Remembrance Day, when we take time out to remember those who sacrificed their lives for us in combat, occurs every year. We have a two-minute silence to remember these heroes but how often do we use that time to think about the sacrifices other people made?
This was the theme of Year 6’s Remembrance Assembly. Acutely aware of the importance of remembering the dead, the class were also stirred by the feelings of those loved ones who were left behind, constantly worrying and dreading that knock at the door….
Year 6 approached the topic with maturity and performed their assembly (where they acted, sang and included a poem that they themselves had written) with clarity and poise. Although there were many references to wars gone by, the class also conveyed the message that we should also remember the sacrifices people continue to make today.
