We’re off to see the wizard!

We’re off to see the wizard!

Excitement was the overall feeling in Lower Key Stage 2 last week. The day had finally arrived, we were off to Harry Potter World. Having been introduced to the new topic of Harry Potter the week before, the children could not wait to explore the wonderful world of witch craft and wizardry, visit Platform 9 ¾ and step foot in the Great Hall.

To start the morning, the children attended a work shop using props from the films to create their own story. They considered the characters they would use and how the interesting and mysterious facts could change their story.

After lunch they were back in the studios, studying wands, costumes, sets and daring to step foot in the Forbidden Forest. Never before have the children been so engrossed and amazed by the sights around them, questioning how the broomsticks fly and the Whomping Willow could destroy the Weasley’s car. The most breathtaking moment of the day came when the children saw the astounding model of Hogwarts, spending time admiring the intricate design and the detail that was used.

It is fair to say that all of the children left Harry Potter World enthused, excited and ready to use all they had learned over the course of their Harry Potter topic.
