Year 1 had a wonderful start to the summer term with an exciting trip to Kew Gardens. With the sun shining, the children couldn’t wait to begin their ‘Plant Hunters’ workshop and explore the different areas of the garden. Guided by a member of the Kew Garden’s staff, the children searched far and wide to see if they could identify different parts of a plant and collect them. They all had the chance to try bark rubbing and using identification cards to help them decide which types of trees they were standing under. While using the trip as a wonderful start to our new topic of ‘Plant Detectives’, the children also enjoyed having the chance to play in the different plant themed play areas and adventure along the tall Treetop Walkway. A fantastic engaging start for a new topic and a new term.
