Year 1’s First Trip of the Year

Posted on: 15 Sep 2014 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 1, Year 1

On Wednesday, the Year 1 children excitedly got ready for their first trip of the year. Blessed with a sunny morning, the children got onto the bus to travel to the Weald and Downland Museum. After a long journey, the children were happy to get off the bus and begin exploring all of the old houses at the museum.

They investigated the different rooms of each house and looked closely at the different materials used to make the roofs and walls. The Victorian classroom caused great amusement along with the Victorian clothes that the children tried on! Year 1 also took part in a ‘Building Blocks’ workshop where they looked at how houses are built and what types of material we need to build homes now, and long ago, successfully.

The picnic lunch in the sunshine was a lovely way to spend the beginning of the afternoon and after this the children were delighted to visit the working water mill and blacksmith. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged in the different activities and to see them interested in the different houses we saw.

A day thoroughly enjoyed by all
