In art, we have observed nature around us and explored the school playground and forest area in search of flowers, leaves, twigs and trees. We have carefully observed the organic forms and paid great attention to the detail in our sketches. We have experimented with tone, line, colour and shadow through using a variety of tools such as pencil, charcoal, pastels and paint. Recently, we looked at the artist William Morris and studied the impact of printing. The children then made their own print design of leaves, and experimented with repetitive patterns of print and learnt about colour mixing to achieve different shades. The children were keen to refine and develop their ideas and have reached their final creations. We are very pleased with the artwork produced and are on our way to the makings of a new William Morris!
