Year 4 Embrace New Challenges

Posted on: 15 Sep 2014 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 2, Year 4

Year 4 pupils have returned for the new school year, eager to embrace the new routines and challenges ahead, this term and beyond.  They have enjoyed sharing special moments from their summer holidays and all seem pleased to be back together again.

Fittingly, the theme in PSHE this term is ‘New Beginnings’ and Year 4 minds have been focused very much on recognising their worth as individuals and identifying positive things about themselves and their achievements. They have been setting personal goals for the year ahead and they have also been learning about their ‘Rights’ and ‘Responsibilities’ at school, at home and in the community.

There are many exciting events to look forward to in the year ahead, starting with a trip to Painshill Park next Thursday for a workshop on Habitats to support our science studies this term. Poetry books have been dusted down this week as we all prepare to choose a favourite poem to learn and recite for the School Poetry Competition, the final of which will be held on 2nd October. The Young Shakespeare Company will be visiting WGS next term to perform Hamlet for Key Stage 2 pupils and Year 4 are also eagerly anticipating showing off their performance skills when they start preparing for their English Speaking Board examination later in the year.
