Little Prep is Weston Green’s dedicated early years setting for children aged two to four. It offers a warm, nurturing and inspiring environment where children flourish from their very first steps in education. Set within the grounds of our thriving prep school, Little Prep provides the perfect balance of comfort, adventure and purpose.
Children at Little Prep follow our bespoke Bright Beginnings curriculum. Grounded in the Early Years Foundation Stage and enriched with purposeful play and exciting themes, the curriculum helps children develop the confidence, independence and curiosity they need to thrive.
From role-play cafes and outdoor science experiments to traditional tales and music sessions, children are immersed in meaningful learning experiences that feel natural and joyful. Every child is encouraged to wonder, explore and discover in ways that are right for them.
Children benefit from weekly specialist sessions in music, French, sport and Movement and Mindfulness. Our subject leaders also bring their expertise to themed enrichment days like Little Inventors, Maths Treasure Hunt and World Book Wonder Day.
The learning continues beyond the classroom through trips and visits that connect with our curriculum. Whether it is a visit to the farm, a woodland walk or a visit from a local artist, these experiences make learning real, relevant and exciting.
Preparation for Reception begins the moment children join Little Prep. From building friendships to developing independence and self-care, every part of the day is designed to help children grow into confident learners who are ready for the next stage.
Children begin to explore early phonics, mark-making and maths mastery in ways that are engaging and developmentally appropriate. In their final year with us, pre-Reception children begin more structured sessions while still enjoying the play and discovery that define early childhood.
Our SkillQuest programme begins in Little Prep, helping children build life-ready skills through stories, songs and conversation. We focus on developing imagination, resilience, empathy, decision-making and the confidence to try new things. These early foundations support success in school and beyond.

Every day at Little Prep follows a calm and purposeful rhythm. Mornings are filled with structured exploration while afternoons offer child-led discovery. Little Prep children are full members of the Weston Green community. They eat lunch in the dining hall, share the library and Music Hall, join in with school events and get to know staff and pupils across the school. By the time they move into Reception, they are already at home.
