On Thursday 9th March, year 3 stepped back in time to the Stone Age during our visit to Butser Ancient Farm. They fully embraced Stone Age life; visiting houses from the different periods and handling artefacts, and the very wet weather made it feel all the more authentic! The children showed teamwork during a ‘wattling’ activity, which required them to build fences using willow branches. Later in the day, chalk carving with flint stones required the children to show off their creativity in a very different way and they really enjoyed using grass and dock leaves as paint!
This fascinating trip has encouraged us to reflect on how lucky we are to have modern technology and made us realise how intelligent our ancestors really were!
