Windsor Castle

Posted: 6th October 2023

Roar!

Topaz started the Windsor Castle workshop roaring like lions that are on the Royal Flag – the flag which tells us if The King is staying at the castle.

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different parts of a castle through an interactive activity with a mini castle construction. Playing different roles either attacking or defending the castle the children shot arrows through the arrow slits, used the crossbow from the battlement, used the battering ram, threw burning rocks of fire and hid in the siege tower – the children learnt important vocabulary as well as strategies of enemy advancement; they were totally immersed!

Amongst all of this fun, the children learnt important facts about Windsor Castle, William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings when castles were introduced in England.
