River Field Trip Y5

Posted: 10th May 2024

Year 5 Embarked on an exciting “Rivers Field Trip” this week in the sunny Surrey Hills.

The children had the chance to put the scientific and geographical theories learned both in the classroom and the lab into practice.

We spent time in the river at two contrasting localities measuring flow, speed and depth and identifying and mapping features such as meanders, banks and beds as well as seeing a real oxbow lake.

We found an astonishing number of invertebrates living amongst the rocks as we practised our best dance steps while “kick sampling” the river bed.

The day was rounded off with an exciting duck race, soggy socks and happy faces.

Excellence in ISI 2025

We are thrilled to share that Weston Green School has received an exceptional report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). Recognised for our strong culture of ambition, curiosity, and kindness, we are especially proud to have been awarded a Significant Strength, a distinction given to fewer than 1 in 10 schools.

The report highlights our high-quality academic curriculum, nurturing pastoral care, and inspiring learning environment, where every child is valued and supported to thrive.
