We are thrilled to announce that Weston Green School has been awarded Silver Status by Rail Safe Friendly in recognition of our comprehensive efforts to integrate rail safety into our school community. This prestigious award highlights our commitment to fostering a safe environment and educating our pupils and families about the importance of rail safety.
Incorporating Rail Safety into Assemblies
Our journey to achieving Silver Status involved several key initiatives. One significant step was incorporating rail safety topics into our regular safety assemblies. By doing so, we ensure that students are well-informed about safe practices around railways, helping them to understand the importance of vigilance and caution in these areas.
Informing and Engaging Parents
We have proactively communicated Rail Safe information to our parents and families in our community, keeping them updated on essential safety guidelines. Informing parents not only reinforces the safety messages at home but also empowers them to guide their children effectively on how to stay safe around railways.
Promoting Free Rail Safety Broadcasts
Another critical component of our efforts has been sharing details of the free rail safety broadcast with our school parent body. This broadcast provides valuable insights and educational content, encouraging participation and awareness within our community.
Through our media channels, we have promoted the Switched On Rail Safety website. This initiative provides valuable resources for our community, ensuring that everyone has access to up-to-date safety information and guidelines.
Collaborating with Other Schools
In addition to our internal efforts, we have shared Railsafe Friendly information with Wandsworth Prep School, another school within Bellevue Education group. This collaboration helps to expand the reach of our safety initiatives, benefiting even more students and families.
Working Towards Gold Status
As we celebrate this achievement, we are already setting our sights on Gold Status. To reach this next level, we will engage our children in creating impactful rail safety content. This will be a poster competition followed by a podcast, and these projects will be designed to promote rail safety within our school and on our social media channels, using guidelines provided by Learn Live.
We are excited about this ongoing journey and remain dedicated to ensuring the safety and well being of our children and the broader community. Look out for more updates this term as we work towards achieving Gold Status with Rail Safe Friendly!
