Y6 LifeLab Business Challenge

Posted: 12th May 2025

At Weston Green School, we are passionate about preparing our pupils for life beyond the classroom. Today, our Year 6 pupils took part in the culmination of their LifeLab Business Challenge – an inspiring enterprise initiative designed to build confidence, collaboration, and key business skills.Turning Ideas into Enterprise

Each of the four teams named Carnival ChaosDive DeepDynamic DJs, and Solar Seekers, received a £50 loan to bring their business ideas to life. They were tasked with creating a brand, developing products to sell, and turning a profit, all while managing their own mini-business.

Learning Real-World Skills

Throughout the project, pupils explored essential areas of business including:

  • Finance and budgeting

  • Marketing and promotion

  • Sales and customer service

  • Creative design and advertising

From designing eye-catching posters and clever video adverts to creating engaging product stands, the children showed remarkable innovation and teamwork.

Perfect Pitch

Today’s event saw each team pitch their business to an audience of parents, staff and an expert panel of judges. Using presentation slides, the children confidently shared their journey, explained their strategies, and offered top tips for success.

Following their pitches, Year 6 sold their products to parents, staff, and other pupils within the school. All profits raised will be donated to a charity chosen by the teams, teaching children the value of social responsibility and giving back.

Thank You to Our Judges

A special thank you goes to our wonderful judges: Lyle Millar from Four Gables EventsTony Swinney, Creative Director at Mustard Post and our very own Headteacher Mr Brown!

Their feedback was both encouraging and constructive, giving pupils valuable insights into how businesses work in the real world.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The LifeLab Business Challenge is just one example of how we develop future skills, critical thinking, and leadership, at Weston Green. We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils for their creativity, dedication, and teamwork throughout this exciting project!
