Friday 9th January 2026 marks one year since the launch of SkillQuest at Weston Green – a curriculum innovation designed to place future-ready skills at the heart of our pupils’ learning.
SkillQuest is not a traditional topic-based programme. Instead, it invites children to step into immersive quests that challenge them to think creatively, collaborate meaningfully, lead ethically and persevere through real-world problems. Through carefully designed experiences, pupils learn not just what to think, but how to think – developing the confidence, adaptability and curiosity they will need in an ever-changing world.
Originally launched in Years 1–6, SkillQuest was extended to Reception and Little Prep in September 2025 and is now proudly embedded as a whole-school curriculum. From our youngest learners (age 2+) through to Year 6, all pupils engage in age-appropriate SkillQuest experiences that emphasise exploration, reflection and purposeful learning.
Over the past three terms, pupils have embarked on a series of ambitious whole-school themes: from Chaos in the Kitchen and Game On!, to A Journey Through Time. Within each theme, year groups have followed their own distinct quests, allowing them to explore ideas in depth while developing core future skills such as communication, leadership, resilience and ethical awareness.
At its heart, SkillQuest goes beyond academic success. It is about nurturing confident, thoughtful and capable learners who understand how to apply their knowledge, work with others and respond positively to challenge. This approach reflects our continued commitment to affordable excellence – providing a rich, rounded education that blends academic rigour with the skills children need to thrive both in school and beyond.
Now firmly established as part of daily life at Weston Green, SkillQuest continues to evolve. As we look ahead to the spring term, we are excited to launch our next vibrant chapter: Colour Unleashed! This will be a creative, cross-curricular exploration of colour, emotion, meaning and expression. We can’t wait to see where SkillQuest takes our pupils next.
