Inspiring Kindness: Weston Green Hosts School of Kindness Workshop

Weston Green School recently welcomed Greig Trout, Director of Kindness at the School of Kindness and 52 Lives charity, for a whole-school workshop dedicated to spreading compassion and empowering pupils to make a difference through small acts of kindness.

Building Character Through Kindness

Organised by our Deputy Head and Head of PSHE, Mrs Hansraj, the event was part of Weston Green’s commitment to developing children’s character and emotional intelligence. During the workshop, pupils explored what kindness really means, beyond simply being polite or helpful. They looked at kindness as an active choice to listen, share, support, and uplift others.

Greig Trout led an inspiring session in the school hall, engaging all year groups with stories and examples that demonstrated the power of kindness. Children were encouraged to reflect on how being kind doesn’t just help others – it also improves their own wellbeing.

Creative Kindness in Action

After the talk, pupils took part in hands-on activities, creating their own acts of kindness. These included:

  • Kind messages in handmade envelopes

  • A “kindness bird” carrying meaningful notes

  • A lucky dip of thoughtful phrases

  • Small surprise gifts and drawings to share

The creative energy and thoughtfulness shown by pupils was truly heartwarming.

Sharing the Message: A Weston Green Podcast

To round off the day, Mrs Hansraj and Greig Trout recorded a short podcast, discussing how schools can embed kindness into everyday learning. They explored practical ways to help children understand the impact their actions can have on others and the wider world.
