Pre-Reception (Jade & Pearl) Harvest

  • Location: Hall

  • Format: Shared arts & crafts stations (each teacher runs one table) + joint song at the end

  • Parents: Invited; RSVP via letter & Google Form

  • Final Song: “Big Red Combine Harvester”


Station Ideas

Please choose one per teacher; we’ll confirm assignments once you’ve replied.

  1. Fruit & Veg Stamping

    • Halved apples/pears/potatoes, washable paint, A3 paper, aprons, wipes.

  2. Paper Plate Scarecrows

    • Paper plates, glue sticks, pre-cut paper “hair,” scrap fabric hats, crayons.

  3. Corn on the Cob Printing

    • Bubble wrap pieces, yellow paint rollers/dabbers, green paper husks.

  4. Handprint Autumn Trees

    • Brown paint for trunks; red/orange/yellow finger dabbing for leaves.

  5. Harvest Basket Collage

    • Basket outline on card, fruit/veg stickers or pre-cut pictures, glue.

  6. Playdough Veg Patch

    • Orange/green/yellow playdough; child-safe tools; mini “veg” prompt cards.

  7. Nature Sensory Collage

    • Leaves/conkers/twigs (we’ll pre-collect), PVA, card, trays for sorting.

  8. Mini Pumpkin Decorating (paper or real mini pumpkins)

    • Stickers, googly eyes, tissue paper squares (no cutting required).


Timings (suggested – adapt as needed)

  • Set-up: 15 mins before start

  • Craft carousel: 25–30 mins (children spend ~7–8 mins per station) you decide! 

  • Song: 5 mins – “Big Red Combine Harvester” (actions + scarves)

  • Pack down: 15 mins


Roles & Logistics

  • Each teacher: Lead one station; model language (“press, roll, stamp”), manage small groups, and support turn-taking.

  • TAs/Helpers: Floats for handwashing, aprons, spills, and transitions.

  • Hall/Class Layout: 4–6 tables in a U or islands; clear inbound/outbound flow.

  • Display: Peg line or wall for finished artwork; name labels ready.

  • Song Lead: KH teacher to cue actions; others to dot among the children.


Resources (provided centrally unless noted)

  • Washable paints, rollers/dabbers, PVA, glue sticks, A3/A4 card, paper plates, stickers, tissue paper, bubble wrap, pre-cut shapes, aprons, wipes, table covers, scarves for song.

  • You bring/confirm: Scissors (adult-only), bins/liners, paper towels.

  • Optional: Real mini pumpkins (if available) and any spare autumn leaves.


Safeguarding, H&S & Inclusion

  • Supervision: Ratio appropriate at each station; scissors/adult tools with staff only.

  • Slips/Trips: Table covers taped down; wipe spills promptly.

  • Hygiene: Handwashing after stations; wipes at each table.

  • Photography/Filming: Follow existing consent lists; only photograph children with permission. No parent filming unless on the consent list and supervised.


Parent Comms (we’ll send)

  • Letter: Invitation explaining date, location, timings, and the song at the end.

  • Google Form: Child name, class, number of adults attending, consent confirmation (attendance + photos per school policy), accessibility needs, allergies, and volunteer interest. Attending yes/no how many up to 2 per child
