Pupils Work in Early Years

There are always lots of exciting things going in within our Early Years building – we cover all of the seven areas of learning each and every week and children are constantly challenged and supported with their learning through the very important business of play. Below is just a sample of work from Early Years.

Kindergarten: Art Work inspired by Kandinsky

>Pupils in Kindergarten enjoy creating their own pictures using a range of materials, inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky:

Reception: The Missing Dinosaur

As part of their Dinosaurs topic, Reception create “Wanted” posters to request help from the rest of the school community, to find the missing dinosaur that may have hatched from the mystery egg:

As part of their ‘All About Me’ topic, Kindergarten enjoy painting self-portraits:

Reception: Story Maps

In Literacy, Reception been read and think about different books all the time, Harvey Slumfenburger’s Christmas Present, by John Burningham is an example of this. The story focuses on Father Christmas’s determination to deliver the forgotten present to a poor boy, who lives in a small hut on the top of Roly Poly mountain.

Reception teamed up in pairs to design and draw a story map, with labels of Father Christmas’s journey to reach Harvey Slumfenburger:

Reception: Dinosaur Topic

As part of their Dinosaurs topic, Reception learn about the different types of dinosaurs, how they moved and what they ate. Some dinosaurs ate plants and they are called herbivores: others were meat eaters called carnivores. The children drew their own dinosaur and labelled the parts of the body:
