There was a real buzz in the air on Move Up afternoon – the time when all the children spend time in their new classroom with their new class teacher for September.
The children excitedly made their way to what, for many of them, is a classroom in a different building. There was inevitably slight apprehension from some, especially the younger children, but any anxiety was soon allayed with sounds of chatter and laughter. Children joining the school came to meet their new classmates and teachers, with the Yr 6 pupils each taking responsibility for looking after one of them.
After time for new relationships with teachers and the start of new friendships with other children to be established, the afternoon concluded with all parents invited for tea before afternoon collection. This gave parents time to begin to build the crucial rapport with their child’s new class teacher and for new parents to meet key staff and other parents.
It is always so exciting to see the new academic year begin to take shape and we warmly welcome the staff, parents and children joining the school community next term.
