At Weston Green School, we are delighted to have been awarded Gold Level Accreditation in the Rail Safe Friendly Initiative, a national programme by Learn Live designed to educate young people about rail safety. Having achieved Gold Level Accreditation, our children have been actively involved in creating impactful materials to promote this important cause.
What is the Rail Safe Friendly Initiative?
The Rail Safe Friendly Initiative builds on the Learn Live digital programme, which educates young people across the UK on essential rail safety topics. These include:
-
Electrification hazards
-
Trespassing dangers
-
Platform safety – stand behind the yellow line
The initiative encourages schools to raise awareness about these safety issues through creative projects like posters, videos, and podcasts.
Weston Green School Pupils Take Action
Our talented children have designed engaging posters aimed at parents, carers, family members, and the wider community. These posters highlight the importance of staying alert near railways, recognising warning signs, and pledging to avoid trespassing.
This initiative is part of a structured process to achieve Gold status, which requires successfully completing Bronze and Silver levels and promoting rail safety within the school and through our communication channels. Watch this short video from some of our talented pupils explaining the potential hazards at a railway station.
Rail Safety Matters to Everyone
By taking part in this programme, Weston Green School is fostering a culture of responsibility and awareness. Together, we pledge to be #RailSafe and work towards preventing track tragedies.
