Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception

Early Years Foundation Stage at Weston Green School is housed in our purpose-built Early Years building, providing a safe, familiar and happy learning environment for children from the age of two years old. Once a child joins us in Nursery, they are guaranteed a school place with us all the way through to Year Six.

It is of paramount importance that our youngest learners feel secure and confident from the moment they start their learning journey with us at Weston Green School. Our Early Years curriculum allows our experienced and dedicated team of Practitioners to focus on each unique child and to give them opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments that encourage their engagement and recognise their strengths.  All children have agency and curiosity to learn and we are proud to have a curriculum at Weston Green that enables this to develop for our two year olds, through to the children in Reception who are ready to enter KS1.

When our youngest learners arrive at our school they instantly become part of the Weston Green family.  In addition to our purpose built building, they have access to use all the shared spaces within the school - including the lovely library, our Quiet Courtyard and the Music hall.  They become familiar with staff beyond the Early Years team and, as a consequence, expand their social and learning experiences.  We learn about the children - their interests, what they need and make sure they see themselves in their learning.  Our class sizes mean we are uniquely placed to allow space and time for this and we see our young children flourish on a daily basis as a result.

We acknowledge that each child is unique and we are committed to providing a quality educational experience for all our pupils, in an atmosphere of security, respect and confidence.  Early Years is a crucial time in a child’s development.  During this stage, their bodies and brains develop rapidly as they build their physical strength, explore their world, develop language and gain social and emotional skills. This is a rate of change that will never be matched again.  The Weston Green Early Years experience ensures that the children are supported, challenged and guided onto their next steps in KS1 as confident, kind, resilient and enthusiastic learners.

Children can attend school from as early as 7.45am and can stay at school, in our wraparound school care up to 6.00pm each day. Find out more about wraparound care.

From the term following your child's third birthday the Government provides 15 hours free childcare entitlement for all 3 and 4 year olds. We accept childcare vouchers for payment of before and after school care, together with Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception school fees for children still in receipt of Early Years funding.
